Support the Behavior Change Workshops at Kamwokya Tresor Life Centre
At Kamwokya Tresor Life Centre (KTLC), we strongly believe that true transformation begins from with confidence, awareness, and the courage to stand up for what is right. Our Behavior Change Workshops, held twice a year, are one of the Centre’s core initiatives dedicated to shaping the lives of vulnerable young people and children living in the slum communities of Kamwokya and surrounding areas.
These workshops bring together Youth aged 14 to 25 years, and Children aged 8 to 13 years
Our goal is to create a safe and engaging environment where participants can learn, reflect, and discover their potential.
What We Do
During the workshops:
Youth aged 14 to 25 explore critical topics such as:
How to reflect on their own behavior and make informed decisions for personal growth.
Addressing issues and concerns common among youth.
Understanding the powerful roles of perception, judgment, and socialization in shaping their actions.
Building resilience to navigate challenges in their communities.
Children aged 8 to 13 engage in guided discussions and activities that help them:
Recognize and appreciate what makes each of them unique and special.
Build self-esteem and confidence to speak up against violations of their rights.
Learn positive values that foster kindness, respect, and responsibility.
Through this holistic approach, we aim to inspire participants to not only improve themselves but also become agents of positive change within their families, schools, and wider community.
The Impact
Since the inception of the workshops, we have seen:
Youth who are more confident in expressing themselves.
Children developing a sense of pride and self-worth.
Reduced involvement in risky behaviors.
Improved peer to peer support systems.
However, despite these promising outcomes, the workshops face significant challenges that threaten to limit their reach and impact.
Challenges We Face
Limited facilitation funds to organize more frequent sessions and cover costs such as , learning materials, refreshments, and transportation.
Inadequate budget to pay professional facilitators, who play a key role in guiding discussions and mentoring participants.
Lack of incentive (such as scholastic materials, certificates) that could motivate more youth and children to attend regularly, especially given the tough realities they face in slum communities.
Without additional support, we risk turning away children and youth who desperately need a space to learn, heal, and grow.
